Internet Resources for Brats

This is just a selection of the many sites of interest to military brats.

www.militarybrat.com
The Military Brat Registry was founded by Army brat Marc Curtis in 1996. This actively-maintained site provides many cultural-connection events and activities for brats. It is possible to register one's information in case friends from the past are looking for you, do your own searches for long-lost brat pals, sign up for "Every Brat Has A Story" cruises and other events, buy brat-related books and products, donate to non-profits that provide support to military families, and more. The emphasis is on connection to other brats, sharing stories, and deepening the understanding of our common roots.

www.operationfootlocker.com
Operation Footlocker, conceived by Mary Wertsch and founded in 1996 by Wertsch and brats Reta Jones Nicholson and Gene Moser, was created to help military brats gather and reflect on their common cultural heritage. Footlockers with memorabilia travel the country from one brat gathering to another; attendees contribute childhood items or write down anecdotes or messages for the collection, which eventually will be archived.

www.bratsourjourneyhome.com
This is the site for the first documentary film ever created about the military brat experience. Donna Musil, Army brat, is the filmmaker. DVDs and videos can be purchased, and arrangements made for showings.

Military brat Glenn Greenwood has compiled (and continually updates) an alphabetical listing of famous military brats.

www.overseasbrats.com
Overseas Brats was founded in 1986 by Army brat Joe Condrill. It is an organization and magazine for those who attended American overseas schools and their educators. It provides info on how to find classmates, and creates opportunities for social reunions of more than 240 overseas alumni groups.

www.milbrats.net
The Canadian Military Brat List. "The purpose of this list is to be a database for people raised by Canadian military parents. Its main aim is to help us find childhood acquaintances."

bratblog.brightwellpublishing.net
The Military Brat Blog was begun by Mary Wertsch on a subsite of Brightwellpublishing.net. It is a place for reflections and the sharing of stories about the Fortress culture that links us all.
